Taking the exam

The exam is given online. Open it below (you'll need the password your teacher gives you), read each question on screen, and mark every answer on the printed answer sheet you were handed.

What's on the exam

The semester exam covers only the material from our three exam-review units. There is nothing on it that we didn't study in review. Every question is multiple choice with one best answer.

• PART 1The Internet Questions 1–14
  Internet vs. the Web, packet switching, fault tolerance & redundancy, protocols (TCP, IP, UDP, HTTP/HTTPS, DNS), IPv4 → IPv6, and bandwidth vs. latency.
• PART 2Cybersecurity & Encryption Questions 15–27
  Symmetric vs. public-key encryption, digital certificates & HTTPS, multi-factor authentication, threat vocabulary (phishing, keyloggers, rogue access points, viruses/worms/malware), and PII.
• PART 3Reading Pseudocode Questions 28–40
  Assignment vs. equality, MOD, RANDOM, Boolean operators, IF/ELSE, REPEAT UNTIL, 1-indexed lists, FOR EACH, tracing code, and procedures.

How to study

The best way to prepare is to work back through the three review lessons and the misconception "lightning rounds" at the bottom of each — the wrong-answer choices on the exam are built from those exact misconceptions.
